Traceability Intelligence Platform
Verified From Field to Fork
IoT-verified traceability certificates that prove provenance, protect cold chains, and open premium export markets for African fresh produce. From the farm gate to the EU buyer β every kilogram, cryptographically accounted for.
The Traceability & Loss Crisis
Kenya loses 30β40% of its horticultural production to post-harvest loss and KES 143 billion annually to preventable spoilage. The deeper crisis is trust: 8β12% of EU-bound fresh produce is rejected, and more than 60% of cooperatives fail GlobalG.A.P. audits because the paperwork is incomplete. The gap is not quality. It is verifiable proof.
3β8%
Farmer's share of final EU retail value
8β12%
EU rejection rate for Kenyan fresh produce
60%+
Cooperatives failing GlobalG.A.P. audits due to documentation gaps
Why the Farm-Gate Price Is So Low
The value chain reality:
| Actor | Typical price | Share of EU retail | What they control |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smallholder farmer | KES 25β40/kg | 3β8% | All production risk, all inputs |
| Broker / middleman | KES 60β90/kg | Markup: 40β80% | Market information and paperwork |
| Pack house / exporter | KES 120β180/kg | Controls grading | Documentation and export access |
| EU / UK retailer | KES 400β900/kg | Brand premium | Final consumer relationship |
The farmer's produce is not inferior. The farmer lacks the cryptographically verifiable proof of origin, quality, and handling that premium buyers and auditors demand.
The documentation failure chain:
- Missing spray logs. The leading cause of GlobalG.A.P. audit failure is an incomplete paper spray record.
- No cold chain proof. A rejected shipment is blamed on the farmer, but no one can prove where the temperature broke.
- Export dossiers assembled by brokers. The farmer cannot compile the KEPHIS, GlobalG.A.P., and cold chain documents required to go direct.
- EU rejection rate: 8β12%. Most rejections are for temperature deviation or documentation gaps, not poor farming.
- Result: The farmer sells at farm-gate prices while the broker and exporter capture the premium.
What AgriSense Really Is
AgriSense is not a cold storage dashboard and not a farm-management app. It is a five-phase export compliance operating system that connects cultivators, cooperatives, pack houses, cold storage operators, logistics providers, exporters, and buyers into one trust-first network. The product is the traceability certificate; the IoT and AI are the enabling layers.
Export-Ready Proof, From Farm to Buyer
Every harvest is registered with a digital identity, tracked through a 7-stage consignment lifecycle, and written to a SHA-256 hash-chained audit ledger. The result is a tamper-evident traceability certificate that any EU/UK buyer can verify instantly.
- Trace: 7-stage lifecycle β AWAITING_PICKUP β INCOMING_BOOKING β IN_TRANSIT β STORED β DISPATCHED β DELIVERED β TRACEABILITY_ARCHIVE.
- Verify: SHA-256-linked ledger with QR code and public verification URL.
- Predict: Dual-tier RSL model β lightweight Q10 physics offline; server-side LightGBM when online.
- Act: Multi-channel alerts in English, Swahili, local languages via SMS, WhatsApp, push, and voice.
- Comply: KEPHIS, HCD/AFA, PCPB, KRA, GlobalG.A.P., and EUDR-ready data.

How It Works: From Farm to Verified Certificate
Five steps turn a smallholder harvest into an export-ready, cryptographically verifiable asset.
1. Register
Farmer digital identity, KEPHIS/GLN, GPS plot capture, and cooperative onboarding.
2. Grow
Spray logs, PHI countdown, PCPB product validation, and pest monitoring.
3. Harvest
Batch creation, QR manifest, quality grade, and pre-cooling verification.
4. Move
Cold chain telemetry, truck tracking, digital handoffs, and 7-stage lifecycle updates.
5. Verify
Traceability certificate with SHA-256 hash, QR code, and buyer portal verification.
End Result: Every Kilogram, Cryptographically Accounted For
Without AgriSense:
Undocumented harvest, broker price, 8β12% rejection risk
= farm-gate value lost
With AgriSense:
Verifiable certificate, EU-ready dossier, KES 320β520/kg grade uplift
= export-ready profit
That is the difference between an undocumented guess and a verified, traceable harvest.

CTH Β· CDOT Β· RSL: The Compliance Trinity
AgriSense's cold chain intelligence is built on three empirically derived metrics that turn sensor data into actionable shelf-life and compliance decisions.
CTH
Cumulative Thermal Hazard
Degree-minutes above setpoint across a batch's lifecycle. Normalised via curve fitting to quantify how much heat stress a consignment has absorbed.
- Continuously accumulated across the 7-stage lifecycle
- Normalised against produce-specific sensitivity
- Feeds directly into RSL degradation curves
CDOT
Cumulative Door Open Time
Total seconds of door-open events. Every opening creates a thermal pulse that degrades shelf life. CDOT is used as a volatility multiplier inside the RSL model.
- Door ajar alerts trigger at 120 seconds
- Volatility multiplier based on time thresholds
- Identifies protocol gaps and seal failures
RSL
Residual Shelf Life
A 0β100 score synthesising CTH, CDOT, and produce-specific Q10 physics. RSL becomes the dispatch, pricing, and quality grade signal.
- Dual-tier: lightweight Q10 physics offline; 39-feature ML online
- Digital Twin forecasts RSL 6 hours ahead
- QualityStatus: GOOD β MARGINAL β AT_RISK β CRITICAL β SPOILED
Q10 Crop Physics Constants
| Crop | T_ref | SL_ref | Q10 | Optimal Range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Avocado | 5Β°C | 336 h | 2.5 | 5β7Β°C |
| Mango | 12Β°C | 480 h | 2.2 | 10β13Β°C |
| Leafy Greens | 1Β°C | 168 h | 2.8 | 0β2Β°C |
| Orange | 5Β°C | 720 h | 2.0 | 5β8Β°C |
| Berries | 0Β°C | 240 h | 3.0 | 0β2Β°C |
Constants are validated against Kenya-ambient storage trials and continuously refined by consignment outcome data.
Cryptographic Traceability & Certificate Architecture
Every AgriSense certificate is a cryptographically verifiable proof object. The platform uses SHA-256 implementation that produces identical results across all platforms.
The Immutable Audit Ledger
An append-only SHA-256 hash-chained record of every critical event ensures data integrity.
- Each entry links to the previous entry via unique identifier and SHA-256 hash
- Certificate entries are preserved beyond standard retention periods
- Any tampering breaks the chain and is detectable by buyers, auditors, or regulators
- Available for audit/debug via web interface
Certificate Lifecycle
From farm location to buyer verification, every certificate follows a secure pipeline:
- Farm location + spray logs + PHI clearance + cold chain telemetry
- Lifecycle service records 7 stages with cryptographic verification at each transition
- Certificate service persists the certificate record
- Share sheet renders QR + unique identifier + verification URL
- Dossier service compiles comprehensive PDF documentation
- Public verification screen allows EU buyers to verify without login
Verification URL Structure

EUDR Compliance, Built In
The EU Deforestation Regulation requires proof of geolocation, deforestation-free status, and chain-of-custody for imported commodities. AgriSense already captures all three.
GPS Polygons
Farm plot boundaries captured and linked to every batch and certificate
Deforestation-Free
Due diligence statement generated from land-use data and date of production
Chain-of-Custody
Hash-chained ledger proves every handoff from farm to export point
What EUDR Means for African Exporters
From 30 December 2025, EU importers must have due diligence records for all fresh produce. Without GPS polygons and deforestation-free evidence, shipments can be blocked at EU ports. AgriSense turns this regulatory burden into a competitive advantage: every batch already carries the proof EU buyers need, so African exporters can sell faster, with fewer rejections, and at premium prices.

Why Traceability + Prediction Wins
A thermometer tells you your cold room is 12Β°C. AgriSense warns you that the room is on track to exceed safe thresholds, recommends moving the produce before quality degrades, and records the full chain of custody so the buyer can trust the quality. Traceability builds the market. Prediction protects the harvest.

Customer Stories
Aggregated numbers are useful. Real farmers are convincing. Here is how AgriSense traceability changed one farmβand what it can do for yours.
Grace Wanjiku
Grace was losing KSh 42,000 every season to avocados that rotted before she could sell them. She sold to local brokers for KSh 60/kg because she had no way to prove quality or origin to hotels or export buyers. With AgriSense, every batch now has a traceability certificate with a QR code β and she can approach export-paying buyers.
Before AgriSense
- Annual production: 2,000 kg avocados
- 700 kg spoiled (35% loss rate)
- No traceability record; no buyer proof
- Sold to brokers at KSh 60/kg (Grade C local)
After AgriSense
- Loss reduced to 300 kg (15%)
- Digital traceability certificate for every batch
- 1,700 kg sold at KSh 120/kg (Grade A traceable)
- Net gain after subscription: KSh 96,000/year
Cold Storage, Thika
Utilization was stuck at 65%. Farmers did not trust the facility with their best produce. AgriSense provided SHA-256-verified cold chain records for every batch, automated GlobalG.A.P. documentation, and EUDR-ready GPS data. Utilization rose to 90%.
County FAO Program
Pilot across 5 counties created traceability certificates for 10,000+ farmers, prevented KSh 450M+ in collective losses, and generated grant-ready impact reports with MRV-ready carbon avoidance data.
Traceability Is a Climate Asset
Every batch that reaches its buyer without spoilage creates a measurable carbon avoidance record. AgriSense turns loss prevention into verified ESG and climate finance data.
2.0β3.5 kgCOβe
Avoided per kg of produce saved from spoilage, using IPCC/FAO methodology
MRV-Ready
Monitoring, reporting, and verification data for carbon credits, green bonds, and results-based financing
EUDR Aligned
Farm GPS coordinates and chain-of-custody data satisfy EU Deforestation Regulation requirements
Environmental Impact Framework
| Metric | Unit | Data Source | Methodology |
|---|---|---|---|
| Food waste prevented | kg/year | Initial quantity minus spoiled quantity per batch | Before/after AgriSense deployment at pilot facilities |
| Emissions avoided (food waste) | tCOβe/year | Food waste prevented Γ crop-specific emission factor | FAO emission factors by crop type |
| Energy savings | kWh/year | Baseline vs. optimised cold chain energy | Before/after comparison at monitored facilities |
| Supply chain food miles documented | km/year | GPS data from consignment lifecycle transitions | Sum of all documented transport distances |
| Traceability coverage | % | Consignment certificates issued vs. total export shipments | Direct platform measurement |
Carbon credit potential: At 500,000 kg of food waste prevented per year, the platform can generate approximately 1,250 tCOβe/year β creating an additional revenue stream for cooperatives through voluntary carbon markets (Verra/Gold Standard methodology).

Yes. Critical alerts are delivered by SMS and voice calls in English or Swahili. You do not need a smartphone. Traceability reports can be shared by your cooperative or family member who has one.
A cold storage dashboard only shows temperature. AgriSense is a five-phase export compliance operating system: it records farm identity, spray compliance, cold chain, transport, and export documentation, then issues a buyer-verifiable certificate. The dashboard is a feature; the certificate is the product.
AgriSense generates one-click traceability certificates and export dossiers. These show farm GPS, harvest date, spray compliance, handling history, temperature, humidity, and transport conditions. Buyers can scan the QR code or verify the SHA-256 hash online.
We offer cooperative group discounts, seasonal payment plans, and can connect you with subsidy programs. Most farmers recover the subscription cost within 3β4 weeks through reduced losses and premium buyer access.
Most farmers receive their first actionable alert and traceability record within 7 days. The full financial impact is usually visible within one growing season, with payback on subscription cost typically between 3 and 4 weeks.
You can cancel anytime. You keep your sensors, and we provide a full export of your traceability data and farm records. There are no long-term contracts for the Smallholder or Commercial packages.
